TROY, N.Y. -
Lee Wade (Holtsville/Sachem East) won 1-meter diving and was runner-up in 3-meter diving, and
Dylan Burns (Cornwall) earned a second-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle, to lead Cortland's performances at the RPI Kumpf Men's Swimming and Diving Invitational.
Cortland placed fourth in the final team standings. RPI won the title with 631 points, followed by Ithaca (529), Clarkson (405), Cortland (334) and Skidmore (265). The Red Dragons finished 1-3 in the dual-meet scoring at the competition with a win over Skidmore.
Wade won the 1-meter diving competition with a score of 278.30 points. He was second on the 3-meter board with 248.90 points. Burns turned in the second fastest time in the 50-yard freestyle at 22.18 seconds.
Tim Rokos (Duanesburg) finished fifth in the 200-yard butterfly (2:07.57) and sixth in the 200-yard individual medley (2:05.26).
Noah Farmer (New Hartford) was sixth in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:18.51) and eighth in the 200-yard IM (2:06.40), while
Adam Kirchgessner (West Irondequoit) placed seventh in the 1,000-yard freestyle (10:50.39) and eighth in the 200-yard butterfly (2:10.32).
Two other Red Dragons earned top-eight individual finishes.
Brian Cremer (Blue Point/Bayport-Blue Point) was eighth in the 1,000-yard freestyle (10:52.48) and
John Severs (Suffern) finished eighth in the 500-yard freestyle (5:20.03).
The foursome of Burns,
Bailey Eigbrett (Avon),
Tim Thatcher (Staten Island/St. Peter's Boys) and Cremer finished fourth in the 400-yard freestyle relay (3:22.33). The 400-yard medley relay team of Rokos, Farmer, Kirchgessner and Burns placed sixth in 3:47.72.
Cortland returns to action on Wednesday at 4 p.m. in a dual meet at Oswego.
