CORTLAND, N.Y. – The Buffalo St. women's ice hockey team scored goals in the second and third periods in defeating Cortland, 2-0, Saturday afternoon at Alumni Arena in ECAC West action. The Bengals improved to 11-5-1 overall and 6-4 in the conference. The Red Dragons fell to 2-13 and 1-9.
Junior Christine Harris (Mountain Top, PA/New Jersey Rockets) and sophomore Emma Ruggiero (Amherst/Buffalo Regals) netted goals for Buffalo St. Juniors Bri Carroll (Peoria, AZ/Anaheim Lady Ducks), Erin Gehen (West Seneca/Cazenovia Chiefs) and Caitie Horvatits (Elma/Buffalo Bisons) and freshman Lila Toczek (Pendleton/Niagara Jr. Purple Eagles) each recorded an assist.

Kelly Farinella (Marlton, NJ/New Jersey Rockets) turned aside 37 shots, while freshman
Miranda Kolb (Watertown/Syracuse Nationals) won 12-of-18 faceoffs. Junior goalie Justine Silva (Baldwin Park, CA/Anaheim Lady Ducks) made 13 saves in posting the shutout for the Bengals.
After a scoreless first period, Harris scored from the right point on the power play at 3:31 of the second period. Ruggiero made it a 2-0 scored at 1:46 of the third period on a backhand in front.
Cortland pulled Farinella for an extra skater with 1:27 remaining but registered just one shot by Kolb the remainder of the game.
