ITHACA, N.Y. – Four Cortland athletes recorded ECAC-qualifying efforts as the Red Dragons competed at the Cornell University women's indoor track and field Upstate Challenge. The meet featured primarily Division I schools from New York state.
Tse Senior (Islip) finished seventh in the triple jump at 10.66 meters (34' 11.75") and
Harley Buczkowski (Holland Patent) was eighth in the weight throw at 14.41 meters (47' 3.5"), both ECAC marks. On the track, Cortland's ECAC qualifiers were
Dana Kupiec (Salem) with a fourth-place time of 1:00.87 in the 400 meters and
Midge Moore (Massapequa) with a 12th-place time of 8.05 seconds in the 60-meter dash.
Kupiec and Moore also finished eighth and ninth, respectively, in the 200-meter dash. Kupiec was clocked at 27.09 seconds and Moore in 27.14 seconds.
Kirstin Kaessinger (Miller Place) finished sixth and
Teagan Perry (Windsor) placed seventh in the pentathlon, which was conducted on Friday. Kaessinger's score of 2,239 points currently ranks 18th nationally in Division III, while Perry's score of 2,216 points ranks 19th. Both of them earned their top point total in the 60-meter hurdles. Kaessinger scored 684 points in the event (10.15) and Perry notched 613 points (10.55).
Other highlights for the Red Dragons included
Kaylee Uhl (Waverly) finishing seventh in the 400 meters (1:02.17) and
Allison Schumann (North Salem) placing eighth in the 800 meters (2:33.09).
Cortland returns to action on Saturday, January 28 at a meet hosted by Utica College.
