Rokos Notches Three of Team's Seven Victories in 168-126 Dual Win vs. Oneonta

CORTLAND, N.Y. – The Cortland men's swimming and diving team rode the wave of three Tim Rokos (Duanesburg) individual victories and two wins each by Dylan Burns (Cornwall) and Lee Wade (Holtsville/Sachem East) to defeat visiting Oneonta, 168-126, in a dual meet at Holsten Pool.

Rokos won the 200-yard butterfly (2:05.11), 200-yard backstroke (2:02.54) and 200-yard individual medley (2:04.00), and Burns captured the 100-yard backstroke (54.76) and 50-yard freestyle (22.67). Wade, who already qualified for NCAA diving regionals earlier this season, won the 1-meter diving competition with 283.80 points and the 3-meter board with 324.40 points.

Cortland took top honors in both relays. Burns, Noah Farmer (New Hartford), Rokos and Bailey Eigbrett (Avon) won the 200-yard medley relay (1:40.20), while Eigbrett, Eric Kohlhoff (West Islip), Brian Cremer (Blue Point/Bayport-Blue Point) and Burns won the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:30.44).

Farmer earned three individual runner-up finishes with efforts of 1:03.90 in the 100-yard breaststroke, 2:19.04 in the 200-yard breaststroke, and 2:09.89 in the 200-yard IM. Cremer was second in both the 200-yard freestyle (1:50.73) and 500-yard freestyle (5:14.61), Eigbrett placed second in the 100-yard freestyle (51.16), and Adam Kirchgessner (West Irondequoit) was second in the 200-yard butterfly (2:06.37).

Cortland swept the top three spots in two events. In the 100-yard backstroke, Burns' winning effort was followed by Thomas Ryan (Long Beach) in second (57.03) and Luke Rutigliano (Haworth, NJ/Northern Valley Demarest) in third (59.68). In the 200-yard backstroke, the winning finish by Rokos was backed up by Nick Galeto's (West Islip) second-place 2:06.52 and Ryan's third-place 2:07.05. Also for the Red Dragons, Ryan, Jamie Miller (Eden), Kirchgessner and Kohlhoff finished second in the 200-yard medley relay (1:44.56).

Cortland closes its dual-meet season next Saturday at home versus Fredonia at 1 p.m.
