CORTLAND, N.Y. - Seven different players scored goals as the Manhattanville men's ice hockey team defeated Cortland, 9-2, Saturday night in non-conference action at Alumni Arena.
Freshman
Sean Perichak (Oakville, ON/Markham Royals) led the Red Dragons (6-7-1) with a goal and an assist. Junior
Darren McCormick (Buffalo/Buffalo Jr. Sabres) netted a goal, and freshmen
Dougie Elgstam (Stockholm, Sweden/New Jersey Rockets) and
Martin Lavallee (Goose Bay, NL/Nepean Raiders) each recorded an assist. Junior goalie
Drew Weigman (Annapolis, MD/Northern Cyclones) made 26 saves in 47:16 before giving way to freshman
Chris Bastone (Greenwich, CT/New Hampshire Jr. Monarchs), who stopped 10 shots over the final 12:44.
Sophomore Cory Anderson (Bakersfield, CA/Notre Dame Hounds) paced the Valiants (8-7) with two goals and one assist. Freshman Ryan Jackson (Montreal, QC/Hawkesbury Hawks) tallied his first two career goals. Junior Stephen Gaul (Downers Grove, IL/Springfield Pics) recorded one goal and three assists, and seniors Adam Platt (Trumbull, CT/Springfield Pics) and Tanner Hicks (Calgary, AB/Brooks Bandits) collected three assists as well.
Junior Thimmy Garbenius (Nykvarn, Sweden/Sodertalje SK) and sophomore Bryan Platt (Trumbull, CT/Springfield Pics) tallied one goal and one assist each, while junior Kevin Loppatto (Plano, TX/Hobart) and Matt Lippa (Richmond Hill, ON/Oakville Blades) netted one goal apiece. Sophomore goalie Tyler Feaver (Whitby, ON/Whitby Fury) turned aside 30 shots.
