ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The Nazareth men's hockey team scored three straight power-play goals spanning the second and third periods and defeated Cortland, 5-2, Friday night in the season-opening game for both teams.
Senior
Paul Fregeau (Los Angeles, CA/Des Moines Buccaneers) and freshman
Alex Storjohann (Anthem, AZ/Kirkland Lake) netted goals for the Red Dragons. Senior
Dan Broderick (White Plains/New York PAL Islanders) and sophomores
Sean Perichak (Oakville, ON/Markham Royals) and
Connor Beck (Richmond Hill, ON/Toronto Jr. Canadiens) each recorded an assist. Senior goalie
Drew Weigman (Annapolis, MD/Northern Cyclones) turned aside 24 shots.
Oliver Janzen led the Golden Flyers with a pair of goals. Ryan Walter registered a goal and an assist, and Brian Miller and James McDonald also scored a goal. John Power and Mateo Capriotti had two assists, and five others chipped in with one assist each.
