Eight-Game Winning Streak Ends at Buffalo St. for Men's Soccer in 1-0 Loss

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Buffalo St. men's soccer team scored early in the second half and the goal held up as the Bengals halted nationally sixth-ranked Cortland's eight-game winning streak with a 1-0 conference win Saturday afternoon.

Senior goalie Connor Young (Bayport/Bayport-Blue Point) made six saves for the Red Dragons (11-2, 5-1 SUNYAC). Goalie Andreas Queen stopped three shots in posting the shutout for Buffalo St. (10-1-2, 3-0-2). Sofiane Hamadi scored the game winner off an assist from Luke Pavone.

After a scoreless first half in which Cortland held a slim, 7-6, advantage in shots, Hamadi netted the game's lone goal just 1:03 into the second half on a one-time shot. Cortland managed just four shots after the goal with the last attempt coming in the 67th minute. The Red Dragons had one final opportunity to generate a scoring chance on a corner kick with 1:15 to play, but sophomore Miguel Tunas' (North Salem) serve came up empty.
