Cortland Women Seventh at Houghton; Billings and Himes Finish in Top 20

Shannon Imbornoni was Cortland's fifth finisher in 93rd place
HOUGHTON, N.Y. - Cortland posted a pair of top-20 finishes and placed seventh as a team out of 16 schools at the Houghton College Women's Cross Country Highlander Invitational.

Sara Billings (Gansevoort/South Glens Falls) and Sam Himes (Buffalo/Sweet Home) recorded basically equal times on the 6,000-meter course at Houghton's Field of Dreams Cross Country Course. Billings finished 16th in 24:17.8 and Himes was 18th in 24:17.9. NYU's Sabrina Herrmann won the 141-runner race in 22:13.6.

Megan Wagner (Niskayuna) finished in 35th place in 25:02.5. Eliza Nichols (Smithtown/Smithtown West) placed 71st (26:13.3). Shannon Imbornoni (Plainview/Our Lady of Mercy Academy) rounded out Cortland's top five with a 93rd-place time of 27:16.1.

Cortland finished with 218 team points, two ahead of eighth-place Utica and six better than Division II Mansfield. RIT won the team title with 57 points.

Cortland will compete at the University of Rochester Yellowjacket Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 14.
