Red Dragons Lose to Buffalo St., 2-0

CORTLAND, N.Y. – Senior Rachel Lenard (Orchard Park/Oswego State) tallied two goals, including an empty-net score with 49 seconds remaining, as the Buffalo St. women's ice hockey team completed a weekend sweep at Cortland with a 2-0 victory on Saturday afternoon in NEWHL action at Alumni Arena.

Sophomore goalie Rachael Farmer (Grand Island/Niagara Jr. Purple Eagles) registered 36 saves for the Red Dragons (2-4-2, 1-4-1 NEWHL), while freshman goalie Bri Gawronski (Dunkirk/Buffalo Bisons) made 17 saves in earning the shutout for the Bengals (4-4, 4-2 NEWHL).

Seniors Erin Gehen (West Seneca/Cazenovia Chiefs), Christine Harris (Mountain Top, PA/New Jersey Rockets) and Emily DeCock (Ramara, ON/Norwich University) each collected an assist for Buffalo St.

Lenard netted her first goal of the game 3:03 into the first period on a rebound after Farmer made an initial save on Gehen's deflection in front. The score remained 1-0 until late in the third period. Cortland pulled Farmer for an extra skater with 1:38 on the clock, but DeCock was able to control the puck in the Bengals' defensive zone. She sent a pass up to Lenard on the right boards who fired a shot into the empty net at the 19:11 mark to seal the win.
