PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. - The Plattsburgh men's ice hockey team scored the final three goals of the game over the last two periods and defeated Cortland, 3-1, Friday night in SUNYAC action. With the loss, the Red Dragons fell to 4-8 overall and 2-6 in the conference. The Cardinals improved to 5-6 and 3-5.

Freshman Alex Storjohann (Anthem, AZ/Kirkland Lake) scored his fourth goal of the season for Cortland. Senior Tommy Nolan and freshman Scott Donahue (Commack/Boston Bandits) each recorded an assist. Senior goalie Drew Weigman (Annapolis, MD/Northern Cyclones) turned aside 26 shots.

Philip Middleton tallied a goal and an assist for Plattsburgh, while Cam Owens and Mike Falanga each netted a goal and five others registered one assist apiece. Goalie Jimmy Poreda stopped 20 shots.

Storjohann gave the Red Dragons a 1-0 lead just three seconds before the end of the first period. Middleton tied the game at 8:34 of the second period. Owens then netted the game winner 22 seconds into the third period before Falanga added his goal at 16:12. The Red Dragons went on the power play with two minutes remaining and pulled Weigman for an extra skater with 36 seconds on the clock but could not produce a shot on goal.

Cortland travels to Potsdam for a 7 p.m. faceoff on Saturday.
