Dawan Jones won the triple jump and the long jump
ITHACA, N.Y. – Cortland notched eight first-place and seven second-place finishes to defeat host Ithaca, 67-60, in a men's indoor track and field dual meet.

Cortland competed in a track and field dual for the first time since hosting Ithaca on Feb. 5, 1994. The meet scoring awarded five points for first place, three for second, and one for third in individual events, and only first-place points in relays.

Dawan Jones (Buffalo/Tapestry Charter) moved into first place in the Division III national rankings in the triple jump with his winning distance of 14.75 meters (48' 4.75"). He also won the long jump at 6.92 meters (22' 8.5") and ranks 12th nationally in that event.

Enoch Jemmott (Brooklyn/South Shore) won the 400-meter dash in 50.90 seconds and finished second in the 200-meter dash in 22.71 seconds. He presently ranks 13th nationally in the 200 and 16th in the 400.

Nick Vachon (Johnson City/Maine-Endwell) won the high jump with a height of 2.00 meters (6' 6.75") that ranks him fourth nationally. James Forte (Merrick/Sanford H. Calhoun) earned a win in the 800 meters in 1:59.76, which ranks him fifth in the country. Ryan Konotopskyj (East Amherst/Williamsville North) was the winner in the mile run with a 10th-place national time of 4:30.97.

Luke Shively (Canandaigua/Marcus Whitman) captured top points in the pole vault with his height of 4.40 meters (14' 5.25"). He was one of two to clear that height, but did it on his first try compared to the second attempt for the runner-up from Ithaca. Shively still ranks third nationally in the pole vault based on an earlier performance of 4.65 meters (15' 3") a week ago.

Storm Malone (Harrison/Highland), Micheal Outing (Farmingdale) and John Martin (Stewartsville, NJ/Phillipsburg) swept the top three spots in the 60-meter hurdles. Malone won in 8.24 seconds, followed by Outing in 8.31 seconds and Martin in 8.80 seconds. Malone still ranks third nationally with his time of 8.15 seconds last week. Outing moved into eighth place nationally with his effort.

C.J. White (Middletown) placed second in the triple jump behind Jones with a distance of 14.19 meters (46' 6.75") that ranks him seventh nationally. Amauris Olivo (Bronx/Urban Assembly School for Careers in Sports) and Cabel McCandless (Lindenhurst) each rank 17th after their second-place performances - Olivo in the 800 meters (2:00.89) and McCandless in the mile (4:33.22). Dev Williams (Syracuse/Corcoran) ranks 18th nationally after placing third in the long jump at 6.82 meters (22' 4.5").
