DiVittorio Paces Cortland Heptathletes at Lehigh Meet

Brent DiVittorio finished fifth overall and was the top Division III scorer at Lehigh
BETHLEHEM, PA. - Brent DiVittorio (Brewster) led six Cortland heptathletes with a fifth-place finish out of 26 competitors at the Lehigh University Fast Times Before Finals meet Friday and Saturday.

Cortland only competed in the men's heptathlon at Lehigh; other Red Dragon men and women competed in dual meets at Ithaca College Friday evening.

DiVittorio was an All-American at last year's NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships with a seventh-place finish in the heptathlon with a score of 4,919 points. He scored 4,799 points at Lehigh and was the top Division III finisher behind two athletes from Penn and two from Mt. St. Mary's. DiVittorio posted the top time in the 60-meter hurdles at 8.52 seconds to earn 855 points. He earned 789 points in the 60-meter dash with his fourth-place time of 7.27 seconds and scored 755 points in the long jump with his fifth-place distance of 6.75 meters (22' 1.75"). Penn's Evan Lee finished first in the overall scoring with 5,039 points.

Zach Kashmer (Chili/Churchville-Chili) finished in eighth place with 4,454 points. His top three events were the 60-meter dash with 732 points for a time of 7.44 seconds, the 60-meter hurdles with 720 points with a time of 9.12 seconds, and the high jump, where his fourth-best height of 1.90 meters (6' 2.75") netted him 714 points.

Isaiah Brooks (Minoa/East Syracuse Minoa) finished 16th with 3,995 points. He scored 744 points in the 60-meter hurdles (9.01) and 729 points in the 60-meter dash (7.45). Jesse Haynes (Hampton Bays) was 18th with 3,685 points, highlighted by 613 points in the 1,000 meters (3:05.28).

Tim Hawley (Binghamton/Susquehanna Valley) finished 19th, but would have had a good chance to place in the top 10 had he not no-heighted in the pole vault. He recorded the second-best time in the 1,000 meters at 2:53.17 for 733 points, and also scored 659 points in the 60-meter dash (7.67) and 646 points in the long jump (6.27 meters/20' 7"). Kevin Diaz Lopez (Haverstraw/North Rockland) withdrew after four events due to injury. He scored 662 points in the 60-meter dash (7.66) during the opening day of competition.
