Cortland Women Compete at Cornell and Utica Meets

Kirstin Kaessinger competes in the 60-meter hurdles at the Utica Pioneer Invitational. She finished 12th in the event and seventh in the long jump.
ITHACA, N.Y. and UTICA, N.Y. – Five top-five finishes and seven ECAC-qualifying finishes highlighted Cortland's performances at two Saturday women's indoor track and field events.
 
At the Cornell Deneault Memorial, Dana Kupiec (Salem) placed third in the 400-meter dash, clocking in with an ECAC-qualifying time of 59.27. In the 3,000 meters, Allison Schumann (North Salem) placed seventh with a time of 10:40.04 and Megan Wagner (Niskayuna) ended eighth with a time of 10.41.19, both meeting ECAC standards.
 
Kupiec, Jennifer Jelic (Oneonta), Dana Messina (East Meadow) and Kaylee Uhl (Waverly) placed third in the 4x400-meter relay with an ECAC-qualifying finish of 4:04.96.
 
At the Utica Pioneer Invitational, Midge Moore (Massapequa) won the 60-meter dash (7.91) and finished second in the 200-meter dash (26.38), both with ECAC-qualifying times. Katherine Doherty (Syracuse/Westhill) placed second in the pole vault with an ECAC height of 3.25 meters (10' 8").
 
Other top-eight finishes at Utica included:
 
Gabriella Czerw (Holbrook/Sachem North), 3rd, Triple Jump (10.55 meters/34' 7.5") and 4th, High Jump (1.50 meters/4' 11")
Harley Buczkowski (Holland Patent), 3rd, Shot Put (11.45 meters/37' 6.75") and 5th, Weight Throw (13.92 meters/45' 8")
Raychael Goldstein (Oceanside), 5th, Triple Jump (10.19 meters/33' 5.25")
Kirstin Kaessinger (Miller Place), 7th, Long Jump (4.80 meters/15' 9")
Sara Billings (Gansevoort/South Glens Falls), 8th, 1,000 meters (3:13.95)
 
Cortland returns to action Friday and Saturday, February 24-25, for the SUNYAC Indoor Championships at Brockport.
