BROCKPORT, N.Y. – Senior Dana Kupiec (Salem) won the 200-meter dash title and was one of two Cortland all-league performers at the 2017 State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Women's Indoor Track and Field Championships. The two-day event was held at Brockport's Special Events and Recreation Center.

Cortland finished fourth in the final team standings. Geneseo won the title (205.5), followed by Brockport (108.5), Oneonta (96), Cortland (72.5) and Buffalo State (56.5) in the top five of the eight-team championship.

Kupiec won the 200-meter dash in 25.73, barely nipping runner-up Dayonna Holmes of Buffalo State (25.76) at the finish line. Kupiec also finished third in the 400-meter dash in 58.63 seconds.

Tse Senior (Islip) finished second in the triple jump at 11.24 meters (36' 10.5"). Midge Moore (Massapequa) placed third in two events, the 60-meter dash (7.87) and 200-meter dash (25.87). Megan Wagner (Niskayuna) finished third in the 3,000 meters (10:19.35 ) and Mary Baughman (Rush/Rush-Henrietta) finished third in the 5,000 meters (17:34.45).

The top two finishers in each event earn All-SUNYAC honors. Winners are first team and runners-up are second team. The league will be adding a third team designation for third-place finishers in 2018 after the league grows to nine schools competing with the addition of Potsdam. (It was incorrectly reported here earlier that the third team designation started this year).

Katherine Doherty (Syracuse/Westhill) finished in a three-way tie for fourth place in the pole vault when she cleared 3.20 meters (10' 6"). Allison Schumann (North Salem) placed fifth in the 3,000 meters (10:24.89) and Harley Buczkowski (Holland Patent) was fifth in the weight throw at 14.62 meters (47' 11.75").

Two Cortland relays finished in fifth place. The 4x400-meter relay team of Kaylee Uhl (Waverly), Jennifer Jelic (Oneonta), Melissa Emilio (Oneonta) and Dana Messina (East Meadow) clocked in at 13:02.68, and the Distance Medley Relay of Eliza Nichols (Smithtown/Smithtown West), Messina, Emilio, and Sara Billings (Gansevoort/South Glens Falls) finished in 13:02.68.
