LANCASTER, PA. - Paige Moriarty tallied nine points on six goals and three assists, and the nationally eighth-ranked Franklin & Marshall women's lacrosse tram held second-ranked Cortland scoreless in the first half as the Diplomats earned a 12-2 win on Saturday in a game moved from Cortland to Franklin & Marshall due to inclement weather conditions.
Juniors
Hannah Elmer (Syracuse/West Genesee) and
Katie Wolfe (East Amherst/Williamsville North) scored goals for the Red Dragons (2-1), and sophomore
Carly Stone (Syracuse/Jamesville-DeWitt) recorded an assist. Senior goalie
Jaclyn Beshlian (Wantagh) made eight saves. Freshman
Lexie Meager (Syracuse/West Genesee) won three draw controls, and senior
Laura Messer (Ransomville/Niagara-Wheatfield) caused two turnovers.
Katie Groenke added three goals and one assist for the Diplomats (2-1), Gabby Frank tallied two goals and one assist and Natalie Delinsky notched a goal. Goalie Danielle Harrington turned aside eight shots. Meliisa Judge won five draws, and Yen Baker caused three turnovers and collected four ground balls.
The loss by Cortland was its first regular-season setback since early in the 2015 season.
