Jack Flood, Steve Patrick Earn Top Regional Indoor Track and Field Awards

SUNY Cortland senior Jack Flood (Blue Point/Bayport-Blue Point) has been selected as the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division III Men's Atlantic Region Field Athlete of the Year, and Cortland head coach Steve Patrick has been named the USTFCCA Division III Atlantic Region Men's Indoor Track and Field Coach of the Year.

Flood is ranks first nationally in the heptathlon heading into the NCAA Division III Championships this weekend. His qualifying score of 5,155 points, which he achieved at the Ithaca College Bomber Invitational in early February, is a school record. He also ranked 14th nationally in the high jump with his winning height of 2.06 meters (6' 9") at the SUNYAC Championships, but will not be competing in that event at nationals due to his heptathlon schedule.

Patrick earned the indoor regional coaching award for the second straight season. He's also been men's outdoor regional coach of the year three times and a women's indoor honoree once. Under Patrick's guidance, Cortland enters this week's NCAA championship meet ranked fourth nationally with eight qualifying athletes.
