LEWISBURG, PA. –
Dana Kupiec (Salem) registered a national top-10 time in the 400-meter hurdles and Cortland earned eight ECAC-qualifying performances at the Bucknell University Bison Outdoor Classic women's track and field meet Friday and Saturday.
Kupiec finished third out of 48 competitors, and was the top Division III athlete, in the 400 hurdles with a time of 1:02.39. She currently ranks sixth nationally in Division III in the event.
Kaylee Uhl (Waverly) also qualified for ECACs in the event with a 35th-place time of 1:06.96.
Kupiec was also a member of the 4x100-meter relay team at finished ninth with an ECAC time of 48.40 seconds.
Midge Moore (Massapequa) led off the race, followed by Kupiec,
Dana Messina (East Meadow) and
Kelly Gardner (Lake Ronkonkoma/Sachem North). The time is currently ranked 21st nationally. In addition, Moore finished 19th out of 73 sprinters in the 100-meter dash with an ECAC time of 12.62 seconds.
Tse Senior (Islip) and

Two Red Dragons met ECAC standards in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.

Mary Baughman (Rush/Rush-Henrietta) placed sixth of 54 in the 3,000 meters in 10:11.47. That distance is not an ECAC championship event. Cortland barely missed qualifying for ECACs in three other events. The 4x400-meter relay of Uhl,
Melissa Emilio (Oneonta), Messina and Kupiec finished 11th in 4:04.01, one hundredth of a second from the ECAC standard.
Allison Schumann (North Salem) finished 22nd of 80 in the 1,500 meters in 4:48.54, less than a second off the ECAC level, and Emilio was 66th in the 800 meters in 2:20.25, missing the ECAC mark by a quarter of a second.
Cortland will host the Cortland Classic next Saturday and Sunday, April 22-23. The Red Dragons are also scheduled to send some competitors to the Princeton Larry Ellis Invitational on Friday.
