Couch Sets School Hammer Record, Red Dragons Earn 13 ECAC Marks, at Cortland Classic

Corey Fitchett cleared an ECAC-qualifying height of 14' 2" in the pole vault
CORTLAND, N.Y. - Mitch Couch (Oneonta) broke his own school record in the hammer throw and earned three of Cortland's 13 ECAC-qualifying performances at the Cortland Classic, hosted by the Red Dragons at the SUNY Cortland Stadium Complex Saturday and Sunday.

Couch won the hammer throw with a distance of 57.98 meters (190' 3") that currently ranks second nationally in Division III. His previous school record was 56.60 meters set last season. Couch also placed second in the discus with a distance of 47.35 meters (155' 4"), which ranks him 30th nationally, and he finished second in the shot put at 15.02 meters (49' 3.5").

Enoch Jemmott (Brooklyn/South Shore) finished first in the 100-meter dash (11.10) and second in the 200-meter dash (22.62). His 100-meter time is an ECAC qualifier. Storm Malone (Harrison/Highland) won the 110-meter hurdles, clocking in at 14.91 seconds. Connor Christopherson (Morrisonville/Saranac) finished second in the event in 15.51 seconds (15.47 in prelims), also with an ECAC time.

Noah Serrette (Lawrence) and Andrew Yarde (Valley Stream/Holy Trinity) each recorded ECAC times with their top-five finishes in the 400-meter hurdles. Serrette was third in 55.71 seconds and Yarde placed fifth in 56.88 seconds. C.J. White (Middletown) had a second place, ECAC-qualifying finish in the triple jump with a distance of 13.90 meters (45' 7.25").

Dev Williams (Syracuse/Corcoran) placed fourth in the long jump with a distance of 7.07 meters (23' 2.5"). This ECAC-qualifying finish places Williams 24th nationally. Dawan Jones (Buffalo/Tapestry Charter) also hit an ECAC mark in the event with his sixth-place effort of 6.71 meters (22' 0.25").

In the pole vault, Corey Fitchett (East Islip) had a sixth-place finish and ECAC-qualifying height of 4.32 meters (14' 2"). Tyler Hochadel (Hamburg/Frontier) had an ECAC-qualifying distance of 46.63 meters (153' 0") in the hammer.

Cortland will compete this upcoming Tuesday, April 25, at the Ithaca College Tuesday Meet.
