Katherine Doherty finished second in the pole vault with an ECAC height of 10' 6"
ITHACA, N.Y. -
Katherine Doherty (Syracuse/Westhill) and
Harley Buczkowski (Holland Patent) each recorded ECAC-qualifying performances in field events as Cortland competed at the Ithaca College Tuesday Meet. The event was held at Cornell University's Kane Sports Complex.
Doherty finished second in the pole vault with a height of 3.20 meters (10' 6"), while Buczkowski placed second in the hammer throw at 48.05 meters (157' 8") to break the school record in the event, to account for Cortland's ECAC efforts.
Buczkowski also placed third in the shot put (11.51 meters/37' 9.25") and fifth in the discus (33.63 meters/110' 4").
Melissa Emilio (Oneonta) was the runner-up in the 800 meters (2:21.88) and
Cat Lutjen (Sound Beach/Miller Place) finished second in the javelin (28.64 meters/93' 11").
Shannon Hanmer (Syracuse/Cicero-North Syracuse) turned in sixth-place distance of 10.53 meters (34' 6.75") in the shot put.
Cortland will compete on Sunday, April 30, at the Cornell University Big Red Invitational on Sunday at 11 a.m. In addition, the Red Dragons will send two athletes -
Mary Baughman (Rush/Rush-Henrietta) and
Allison Schumann (North Salem) - to the Penn Relays on Thursday. Baughman is scheduled to run in the 10,000 meters at 10:25 p.m. and Schumann is slated for the 3,000-meter steeplechase at 8:10 p.m.
