Andrew Yarde finished fourth in the 400-meter hurdles with an ECAC-qualifying time of 56.06 seconds
ITHACA, N.Y. – Cortland's men recorded 18 ECAC-qualifying efforts at the Cornell University Big Red Outdoor Invitational track and field meet.
Dawan Jones (Buffalo/Tapestry Charter), now fifth nationally in the triple jump, placed first with a distance of 14.81 meters (46' 7.25").
Dev Williams (Syracuse/Corcoran) finished fourth in the long jump with an ECAC-qualifying distance of 7.28 meters (23' 10.75"). He missed the school record in the event by less than three inches, and he currently ranks 13th nationally.
Storm Malone (Harrison/Highland) placed second in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.70 seconds, which ranks 15th nationally.
Jack Flood (Blue Point/Bayport-Blue Point) finished third (14.77), followed by
Connor Christopherson (Morrisonville/Saranac) in fourth (14.94) and
Brent DiVittorio (Brewster) in fifth (15.39). All four times are ECAC qualifiers.
In the 400-meter dash,
Enoch Jemmott (Brooklyn/South Shore) placed second with an ECAC-qualifying time of 49.05.
Andrew Yarde (Valley Stream/Holy Trinity) placed fourth in the 400-meter hurdles, turning in an ECAC time of 56.06 seconds.
Nick Vachon (Johnson City/Maine-Endwell) finished fourth in the high jump with an ECAC-qualifying height of 1.96 meters (6' 5").
Mitch Couch (Oneonta) had three separate ECAC-qualifying finishes. In the discus, Couch finished fourth at 47.60 meters (156' 2") placing him 28th nationally. In the shot put, Couch placed first at 14.78 meters (48' 6"). Finally, Couch finished second in the hammer at 56.96 meters (186' 10").
Flood was fifth in the long jump with an ECAC-qualifying distance of 14.17 meters (46' 6") that ranks 31st nationally.
C.J. White (Middletown) finished fourth in the triple jump with a distance of 14.17 meters (46' 6"). This finish qualified White for ECACs and placed him 32ndin the nation.
Charlie Kollmer (Mount Sinai) finished third in the pole vault with a height of 4.50 meters (14' 9").
Ivan Mieses (Middletown) also cleared 4.50 meters, but placed fifth due to completing the height on his second try while Kollmer made it on his first attempt.
In the 4x100-meter relay, Cortland's quartet of
Liam Joyce (Dryden),
Jake Davis (Castleton/Maple Hill),
Noah Serrette (Lawrence) and Jemmott finished fourth with an ECAC time of 43.73 seconds.
Tyler Hochadel (Hamburg/Frontier) finished ninth in the hammer event with an ECAC distance of 46.20 meters (151' 7").
Cortland will host the SUNYAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships Friday and Saturday, May 5-6. The Red Dragon men are defending league champions.
