ITHACA, N.Y – The Cortland women's outdoor track and field had seven ECAC-qualifying finishes at the Cornell University Big Red Outdoor Invitational Sunday.
Dana Kupiec (Salem) finished first in the 400-meter hurdles with an ECAC time of 1:01.71. Kupiec is now eighth nationally in Division III in the event. Cortland's 4x100 relay team of
Midge Moore (Massapequa), Kupiec,
Dana Messina (East Meadow) and
Kelly Gardner (Lake Ronkonkoma/Sachem North) completed the race with an ECAC time of 48.52 seconds.
Kaylee Uhl (Waverly) placed sixth in the 400-meter hurdles, clocking in at 1:04.82, and Moore finished eighth in the 200-meter dash (25.25) and 11th in the 100-meter dash (12.38). All three of those times are ECAC qualifiers.
Harley Buczkowski (Holland Patent) had two ECAC-qualifying finishes at the event. In the shot put, Buczkowski placed ninth with a distance of 11.63 meters (38' 2"). In the hammer throw, she finished 11th with a distance of 42.25 meters (138' 7").
Melissa Emilio (Oneonta) placed eighth in the 800 meters. Her time of 2:20.70 missed the ECAC mark by seven tenths of a second. Messina placed 16th out of 37 participants in the 200-meter dash (26.36).
Jasmine Meerdink (Rome/Rome Free Academy) finished first of three in the 3,000 meters (11:23.88), while
Cat Lutjen (Sound Beach/Miller Place) was fifth in the javelin at 27.27 meters (89' 6").
Cortland will host the SUNYAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships this Friday and Saturday, May 5-6.
