Mitch Ryan's 3,000-meter steeplechase time of 9:10.73 at Princeton ranks first nationally in Division III as of Saturday evening
The Cortland men's outdoor track and field team recorded 17 ECAC-qualifying performance, including two that presently rank first nationally in Division III, at three meets over the weekend. The Red Dragons had most of their competitors at either The College of New Jersey Invitational Saturday or the Roc City Classic, hosted by Nazareth, on Sunday, and also sent a runner to the Princeton Sam Howell Invitational.
Mitch Ryan (Plattsburgh/Seton Catholic), Cortland's lone competitor at Princeton, finished fifth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:10.73 that is currently the best in Division III nationally.
At TCNJ,
Dawan Jones (Buffalo/Tapestry Charter) finished second in the triple jump with a distance of 14.78 meters (48' 6") that ranks first in the country.
Dev Williams (Syracuse/Corcoran) was second at TCNJ in the long jump with a distance of 7.05 meters (23' 1.75"), with Jones fourth at 6.83 meters (22' 5"). Williams ranks 14th nationally in the long jump.
Also at TCNJ, the 4x400-meter relay team of
Connor Christopherson (Morrisonville/Saranac),
Austen Johnson (Jamestown),
Noah Serrette (Lawrence) and
Enoch Jemmott (Brooklyn/South Shore) finished first with an ECAC time of 3:23.40. Four of Cortland's ECAC efforts at the meet came in the 110-meter hurdles as
Jack Flood (Blue Point/Bayport-Blue Point) finished second (14.71),
Storm Malone (Harrison/Highland) was third (14.79), Christopherson tied for fifth (15.04), and
Brent DiVittorio (Brewster) placed ninth (15.44). Flood and Malone presently rank eighth and 10th nationally, respectively, in the hurdles.
DiVittorio finished third in the high jump at 1.95 meters (6' 4.75"), with
Nick Vachon (Johnson City/Maine-Endwell) tied for fourth (1.90 meters/6' 2.75"). Flood was fourth in the pole vault (4.45 meters/14' 7.25"), followed by
Matt Greenlaw (Warwick/Warwick Valley) in fifth (4.30 meters/14' 1.25"). C.J White (Middletown) was Cortland's other ECAC qualifier at TCNJ with his 11th-place triple jump of 13.60 meters (44' 7.5").
Mitch Couch (Oneonta) won the shot put and discus, and placed second in the hammer throw, at the Roc City Classic, all with ECAC efforts. He broke the facility record at Nazareth in the discus with a throw of 46.19 meters (151' 6.25"). Couch won the shot put at 15.22 meters (49' 11") and posted a distance of 55.72 meters (182' 9.5") in the hammer. Couch's hammer throw currently ranks eighth nationally.
