Red Dragons Open Season with 0-0 Tie at Moravian

Box Score BETHLEHEM, PA. – For the first time since the 2013 season, the Cortland women's soccer team played to a 0-0 double-overtime tie. The result came in the Red Dragons' season-opening game at Moravian College on Friday night.

Freshman goalie Danika Svendsen (Stillwater) made three saves in the opening half in her first career start for Cortland. Junior Abby Miller (Andover) played the second half and two 10-minute overtime periods, turning aside two shots in her first appearance as a Red Dragon. Goalie Jessica Lawton stopped one shot in the opening half for the Greyhounds, while Jamie Daly also recorded one save as she played the final 65 minutes.

Moravian outshot Cortland, 15-10, in the game, including 3-1 in the overtimes, and held a 9-0 advantage in corner kicks. The Red Dragons return to action on Sunday when they travel to face Rutgers-Newark at 1 p.m.
