GLASSBORO, N.J. - Cortland's top six runners finished in the top half of the field to lead the Red Dragons to a fourth-place team showing at the Rowan University Bill Fritz Invitational.
Cortland finished with 146 points, one better than fifth-place Bryn Mawr. RIT was the team champion with 42 points. A total of 13 schools competed.
Sara Billings (Gansevoort/South Glens Falls) finished 12th out of 109 runners with a time of 25:04.76 over 6,000 meters.
Sam Himes (Buffalo/Sweet Home) placed 28th in 26:44.19 and
Melissa Emilio (Oneonta) was 37th in 27:39.39. Kate Edwards of Bryn Mawr won the race in 23:17.24.
Shannon Imbornoni (Plainview/Our Lady of Mercy Academy) turned in a 42nd-place time of 28:19.99, followed by
Courtney Maurin (Pine Bush) in 45th place in 28:29.99 and
Jillian Leggiero (East Greenbush/Columbia) in 46th place in 28:30.45.
Allison Segal (Merrick/Sanford H. Calhoun) rounded out the Cortland contingent with a 63rd-place effort (30:00.93).
Cortland will compete next Saturday, Sept. 23, at the Roberts Wesleyan Harry F. Anderson Invitational.
