Megan Wagner (Niskayuna) and
Sara Billings (Gansevoort/South Glens Falls) notched top-15 finishes in a field of 198 runners to help the Cortland women's cross country team place seventh at the Roberts Wesleyan Harry F. Anderson Invitational.
The Red Dragons finished with 172 points, 16 behind sixth-place Brockport and 25 ahead of eighth-place Nazareth. The Division II host school won the team title with 37 points, followed by Division I St. Bonaventure with 84. A total of 16 teams competed.
Wagner finished in 11th place on the 5,000-meter course in 19 minutes, 35.7 seconds. St. Bonaventure's Emily Izydorcak won the race in 18:35.1. Billings wasn't far behind Wagner with a 14th-place time of 19:42.2.
Sam Himes (Buffalo/Sweet Home) crossed the finish line 41st in 20:41.2, just a fraction of a second ahead of teammate
Melissa Emilio's (Oneonta) 43rd-place effort of 20:41.7.
Courtney Maurin (Pine Bush) rounded out Cortland's top five with a 98th-place time of 22:00.2, while
Shannon Imbornoni (Plainview/Our Lady of Mercy Academy) (123rd, 22:44.8) and
Allison Segal (Merrick/Sanford H. Calhoun) (128th, 23:00.9) completed Cortland's contingent at the race.
Cortland will compete at the Lehigh University Paul Short Run on Friday at 1 p.m.
