Brian Cremer finished fourth in the 500-yard freestyle and seventh in the 200-yard freestyle
TROY, N.Y. - The Cortland men's swimming and diving team earned a third-place finish at the RPI Kumpf Invitational. The host Engineers won the title with 663 points, followed by Ithaca (478), Cortland (431), Clarkson (363) and Skidmore (254).
In the dual scoring at the meet, Cortland went 2-2 with wins over Clarkson and Skidmore and losses to RPI and Ithaca.
Cortland's 400-yard freestyle relay team of
Tim Rokos (Duanesburg),
Billy Donlevy (Bayside/Holy Cross),
Nick Galeto (West Islip) and
Bailey Eigbrett (Avon) finished in second place in 3:19.46. Cortland's "B" unit of
Brian Cremer (Blue Point/Bayport-Blue Point),
Jason Boyko (Poughkeepsie/Our Lady of Lourdes),
Cameron Cook (Vestal) and
Anthony McGorisk (East Hampton) finished fourth in the event in 3:24.37.
Galeto was the Red Dragons' top individual placewinner with a third-place time of 1:50.57 in the 200-yard freestyle. He also finished seventh in the 200-yard backstroke (2:08.85).
Ian Killane (Clifton Park/Shenendehowa) finished fourth in 3-meter diving (248.60 points) and fifth in 1-meter diving (232.05 points), while Boyko was fourth in the 200-yard butterfly (2:05.59) and fifth in the 500-yard freestyle (5:12.93).
Rokos placed fourth in the 200-yard backstroke (2:04.18) and sixth in the 200-yard individual medley (2:05.03), and Cremer finished fourth in the 500-yard freestyle (5:11.42) and seventh in the 200-yard freestyle (1:52.68).
Eigbrett also turned in two top-eight individual finishes with a fifth-place time of 22.89 seconds in the 50-yard freestyle and a seventh-place time of 50.47 seconds in the 100-yard freestyle. Donlevy also turned the feat by finishing fifth in the 200-yard butterfly (2:06.30) and seventh in the 50-yard freestyle (23.27).
Noah Farmer (New Hartford) finished fifth in the 200-yard backstroke (2:06.31) and
John Severs (Suffern) was sixth in the 1,000-yard freestyle (10:54.78).
Patrick Conway (Wantagh/Kellenberg Memorial) recorded an eighth-place score of 214.05 points in 1-meter diving.
Cortland will compete in its final home meet of the season next Saturday, Jan. 27 at 1 p.m. versus Division II Le Moyne College.
