Red Dragons Drop NEWHL Game at Potsdam, 3-1

POTSDAM, N.Y. – Three different players scored goals as the Potsdam women's ice hockey team earned a split in a two-game home-and-home weekend series with a 3-1 win versus Cortland in NEWHL action Saturday afternoon. The Red Dragons fell to 7-10-2 overall and 2-9-1 in the conference, while the Bears improved to 10-7-2 and 3-7-2.

Sophomore Emily King (Buffalo/Buffalo Regals) netted a power-play goal for Cortland with junior Samantha Pippin (Allen Park, MI/Team Detroit) and sophomore Miranda Kolb (Watertown/Syracuse Nationals) recording assists on the score. Sophomore goalie Rachael Farmer (Grands Island/Niagara Jr. Purple Eagles) registered 28 saves.

Natalie Wasielewski recorded a goal and an assist for Potsdam, and Jenna Patterson and Lucy Condon each added a goal. Four players chipped in with one assist. Goalie Alexa Pfeiffer made 17 saves.

The Bears took a 2-0 lead after the first period on goals from Patterson at 13:25 and Wasielewski at 14:05. King cut into Potsdam's lead with her seventh goal of the season at 8:37 of the second period. Kolb recorded her 10th assist of the campaign on the goal to become the first Red Dragon to register 10 goals and 10 assists in a single season in 14 years. Condon added an insurance goal for Potsdam at 5:18 of the third period. Cortland pulled Farmer for an extra skater with 1:06 to play but failed to cut into the Bears' lead.
