Men's Swimming and Diving Falls to Hartwick; Killane Wins Both Diving Events

Ian Killane posted the top score in both 1-meter (249.35) and 3-meter (242.60) diving
CORTLAND, N.Y. – Diver Ian Killane (Clifton Park/Shenendehowa) won both of his events and Jason Boyko (Poughkeepsie/Our Lady of Lourdes) and Bailey Eigbrett (Avon) each earned an individual victory as Cortland fell to visiting Hartwick, 160-138, in men's swimming and diving dual meet action.
 
Killane won the 1-meter board with a score of 249.35 points and the 3-meter board with 242.60 points. Boyko captured the 200-yard butterfly in 2:05.69 and Eigbrett won the 100-yard freestyle in 49.75 seconds. Cortland also won the 400-yard freestyle relay as Brian Cremer (Blue Point/Bayport-Blue Point), Billy Donlevy (Bayside/Holy Cross), Boyko and Eigbrett finished in 3:20.36.
 
Eigbrett nearly pulled off a second individual victory, losing by just two hundredths of a second in the 50-yard freestyle in 23.12 seconds. He was also second in the 200-yard freestyle in 1:52.68. Tim Rokos (Duanesburg) also was just nipped at the wall for a win as his second place time of 2:05.72 in the 200-yard individual medley fell short by just a hundredth of a second. Rokos also earned a runner-up showing in the 200-yard backstroke (2:04.27).
 
Dylan Cornelia (Deer Park) recorded runner-up times in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:02.70) and the 200-yard breaststroke (2:20.76). Patrick Conway (Wantagh/Kellenberg Memorial) placed second in both 1-meter (227.80 pts.) and 3-meter (217.15 pts.) diving. Also for the Red Dragons, Donlevy finished second in the 100-yard butterfly (56.20), Thomas Ryan (Long Beach) was second in the 100-yard backstroke (55.75), and the 200-yard medley relay of Nick Galeto (West Islip), Cornelia, Donlevy and Rokos finished second (1:41.98).
 
Cortland will host New Paltz on Friday, Jan. 12 at 4 p.m.
