Galeto and Killane All-Conference During Friday's SUNYAC Swimming and Diving Action

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Cortland men's swimming and diving team maintained its second-place position with one day remaining at the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Championships.

Geneseo leads the standings with 654 points, followed by Cortland with 401 and Oswego with 321.5. The final day of the nine-school event starts Saturday at 10 a.m. at Erie Community College's Flickinger Center.

Nick Galeto (West Islip) and Ian Killane (Clifton Park/Shenendehowa) earned All-SUNYAC honors with top-three finishes. Galeto finished second in the 100-yard backstroke in 51.89 seconds, and Killane was third in 1-meter diving with 450.25 points.

The Red Dragons also earned All-SUNYAC honors in the 200-yard medley relay - their second top-three relay at the meet thus far. Galeto, Dylan Cornelia (Deer Park), Billy Donlevy (Bayside/Holy Cross) and Eric Kohlhoff (West Islip) finished third in the race in 1:36.32.

Cortland featured six other swimmers in the finals of their events. Cornelia placed fourth in the 100-yard breaststroke (59.96, 59.53 prelims) and Tim Rokos (Duanesburg) was fourth in the 400-yard individual medley (4:14.17). Thomas Ryan (Long Beach) was fifth in the 100-yard backstroke (53.26), Jason Boyko (Poughkeepsie/Our Lady of Lourdes) finished fourth in the 400 IM (4:16.60), Patrick Conway (Wantagh/Kellenberg Memorial) finished sixth in 1-meter diving (408.00 points), and Donlevy ended eighth in the 400 IM (4:22.45, 4:21.19 prelims).

Alex Fisher (Smithtown/Hauppauge) and Adam Kirchgessner (West Irondequoit) each won "B" finals for ninth-place overall finishes - Fisher in the 400 IM (4:16.82) and Kirchgessner in the 100-yard butterfly (52.83, 52.70 prelims).

Noah Farmer (New Hartford) placed 10th in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:00.71), Bailey Eigbrett (Avon) was 11th in the 200-yard freestyle (1:47.05), and Kyle Podlaski (Rochester/Churchville-Chili) earned an 11th-place finish in the 400 IM (4:21.56, 4:21.53 prelims). Brendan Miranda (Wantagh) picked up 11th-place points in 1-meter diving (258.15 points, 290.30 prelims).

Alex Regna (Brockport) notched a pair of 12th-place finishes with times of 4:21.69 (4:21.68 prelims) in the 400 IM and 1:01.43 (1:01.29 prelims) in the 100 breast. Brian Cremer (Blue Point/Bayport-Blue Point) was 12th in the 200-yard freestyle (1:47.82), with John Severs (Suffern) 16th in the event (1:49.96, 1:49.83 prelims), and Ryan finished 16th in the 100 fly (55.10, 53.84 prelims).
