Cortland Earns Runner-up Finish at SUNYAC Men's Swimming and Diving Championships

Eric Kohlhoff, Tim Rokos, Nick Galeto and Brian Cremer finished fourth in the 400-yard freestyle relay. Galeto and Rokos also placed third and fourth, respectively, in the 200-yard backstroke.
BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Cortland men's swimming and diving team finished in second place out of nine schools at the 2018 State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Championships. The meet was held at Erie Community College's Burt Flickinger Center.

Cortland improved two spots from last year's team finish and has finished in the top four in the league each of the last 15 years. Geneseo won its fifth straight league crown with 919 points, followed by Cortland (591), Oswego (482.5), New Paltz (442) and Buffalo St. (301) in the top five.

Nick Galeto (West Islip) recorded an All-SUNYAC effort with a third-place finish in the 200-yard backstroke. He finished with a time of 1:54.90 in the finals. Tim Rokos (Duanesburg) touched the wall fourth in the race in 1:55.38, Kyle Podlaski (Rochester/Churchville-Chili) was sixth in 1:59.49, and Thomas Ryan (Long Beach) was eighth in 2:00.22 (1:58.16 prelims).

The 400-yard freestyle relay team of Rokos, Brian Cremer (Blue Point/Bayport-Blue Point), Eric Kohlhoff (West Islip) and Galeto finished fourth in 3:10.70.

Dylan Cornelia (Deer Park) and Jason Boyko (Poughkeepsie/Our Lady of Lourdes) each turned in fifth-place finishes - Cornelia in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:11.11) and Boyko in the 200-yard butterfly (1:57.47). Noah Farmer (New Hartford) was sixth in the 200 breaststroke (2:12.59) and Adam Kirchgessner (West Irondequoit) placed seventh in the 200 butterfly (2:00.11, 2:00.08 prelims).

Billy Donlevy (Bayside/Holy Cross) finished ninth in the 200 butterfly after winning the "B" final in 1:59.08. John Severs (Suffern) placed ninth in the 1,650-yard freestyle (17:05.68), with Podlaski 13th in the event (17:30.73). Bailey Eigbrett (Avon) finished 11th in the 100-yard freestyle (47.99). Alex Fisher (Smithtown/Hauppauge) finished 11th in the 200 breaststroke (2:14.57), followed by Alex Regna (Brockport) in 12th (2:14.84).

Also scoring for the Red Dragons were Luke Rutigliano (Haworth, NJ/Northern Valley Demarest) in 12th place in the 200 back (2:02.35), Kohlhoff in 13th place in the 100 free (48.34), Jon Manwarren (Norwich) in 14th place in the 200 backstroke (2:03.31), and Cremer in 16th place in the 100 free (49.03).
