ITHACA, N.Y. - Cortland dropped a pair of non-league softball games at Ithaca College, losing a tight 3-1 decision in the opener and falling 8-1 in the second game.
The schedule for Cortland's upcoming homestand has been changed due to possible bad weather. Friday's doubleheader versus Geneseo has been moved to Sunday at noon and Sunday's doubleheader versus Plattsburgh has been shifted to Monday at 1 p.m. The Red Dragons have also canceled their home doubleheader against Union scheduled for next Tuesday. Cortland's home twinbill versus Brockport on Saturday at noon is still on as scheduled.
Ithaca 3, Cortland 1
The opener shaped up as a pitching duel between Ithaca's Haley Congdon and Cortland's
Sam Van Dorn (Medford/Patchogue-Medford). Congdon, now 5-2, allowed just one hit and one unearned run with three walks and four strikeouts. Van Dorn gave up three runs, but just one earned, over five and a third innings. She allowed seven hits, fanned four and walked two.
Cady Walts (Cortland) pitched two thirds of an inning with one strikeout.
Ithaca broke a scoreless tie in the fourth on a one-out error and two-out, back-to-back RBI doubles by Ellie Murray and Annie Cooney. Cortland pulled to within 2-1 in the fifth with the help of a
Cailey Cuttita (Clifton Park/Shenendehowa) walk and two errors, but stranded runners on second and third. Ithaca picked up an insurance run on Frankie-Ann McCauley's one-out solo homer in the bottom of the sixth.
Murray finished 2-for-2 with an RBI and run scored and Gabby Lacona was 2-for-3 for the Bombers.

Feldman hit her team-high seventh homer of the season to cut Ithaca's lead to 4-1 in the second. Cortland's best threat after that came in the fifth when Cuttita walked with one out and went to third on a two-out
Alissa De Padua (Milford, PA/Delaware Valley) single, but a fly out ended the inning.
Ithaca plated a run in the fourth on a Cooney single and scored three in the fifth on an Anderson RBI single and run-producing ground outs from Alex Wright and Murray.
