Red Dragon Men Record Six Wins in Dual-Meet Loss at Oswego

Hunter Bernhardt won the 500-yard freestyle and was second in the 1,650-yard freestyle
OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Cortland men's swimming and diving team earned six individual victories in a 161-130 dual-meet loss at Oswego.

Dylan Cornelia (Deer Park) recorded two of those wins with triumphs in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:02.12) and 200-yard breaststroke (2:15.27). Hunter Bernhardt (Groton) won the 500-yard freestyle (4:58.97) and placed second in the 1,650-yard freestyle (17:24.15), while Nick Galeto (West Islip) won the 100-yard backstroke (54.67) and was a close second behind Bernhardt in the 500-yard freestyle (4:59.21).

Jason Boyko (Poughkeepsie/Our Lady of Lourdes) and Adam Kirchgessner (West Irondequoit) were Cortland's other winners at the meet. Boyko claimed the 200-yard butterfly (2:01.65) and Kirchgessner won the 100-yard butterfly (54.61).

Tim Rokos (Duanesburg) and Patrick Conway (Wantagh/Kellenberg Memorial) each notched a pair of runner-up finishes. Rokos finished the 200-yard freestyle in 1:49.01 and the 200-yard backstroke in 2:01.59. Conway was second in both 1-meter diving (204.45 points) and 3-meter diving (194.05 points). Thomas Ryan (Long Beach) was second in the 100-yard backstroke (54.69) and Eric Kohlhoff (West Islip) placed second in the 50-yard freestyle (22.81).

Cortland finished second in both relays. Galeto, Cornelia, Bailey Eigbrett (Avon) and Kohlhoff were timed in 1:39.19 in the 200-yard medley relay. Galeto, Rokos, Eigbrett and Kohlhoff finished the 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:29.02.

Cortland will compete at the RPI Invitational on Saturday at noon.
