Cortland Third at Tri-Meet Against Division Air Force and West Virginia

Vivian Trevisani recorded a career best on vault and was the Red Dragons' second-best performer on uneven bars
U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, COLO. – The Cortland women's gymnastics team finished in third place in a tri-meet against host Air Force Academy and West Virginia University. Facing Division I competition for the second straight week, the Red Dragons recorded a final team score of 180.475. West Virginia won the meet with a 194.75 and Air Force was second with a 193.675. Cortland first-year head coach Sierra Day is the daughter of Air Force head coach Doug Day and was an assistant coach for the Falcons two seasons ago.
 
Rachel Filipski (Lancaster) tied for eighth place out of 18 competitors on vault with a 9.675. Emma Schulz (Poughquag/Arlington) was 13th with a 9.525 and Vivian Trevisani (Colchester, VT) was 15th with a career-best 9.375. Megan Hanley (Lynbrook/Malverne) led the Red Dragon on uneven bars with a 12th-place score of 9.325 and Trevisani was 14th with an 8.925.
 
Schulz was Cortland's top performer on balance beam in 13th place (9.35), followed by Emily Speciale (San Antonio, TX/James Madison) in 14th (9.325). Schulz also led Cortland's floor exercise contingent with an 11th-place score of 9.625. Filipski placed 12th at 9.50 and Kamryn Rodriguez (Minisink/Minisink Valley) was 13th with a 9.425.
 
Hanley and Schulz each competed in the all-around. Hanley finished third with a 36.325 and Schulz, in her first collegiate all-around effort, was fourth with a 35.70.
 
West Virginia had three outright individual event winners – Kirah Koshinski on vault (9.95), Esperanza Abarca on bars (9.80) and Rachel Hornung on beam (9.825). In addition, Koshinski and Air Force's Tyler Davis tied for first on floor (9.85). Davis won the all-around with a 38.875.
 
Cortland, which competed at Maryland last weekend, continues its stretch of facing Division I opposition next Saturday when it travels to Cornell University for a 1 p.m. meet.
