CORTLAND, N.Y. – The Cortland field hockey team wrapped up its regular season with a 2-1 non-conference home victory versus Skidmore Saturday afternoon at the Stadium Complex. The Red Dragons improved to 15-3 with the win. The Thoroughbreds fell to 12-8.
Seniors
Hannah Burchell (Whitney Point) and
Amanda Glaser (Melville/Walt Whitman) each recorded a goal and an assist for Cortland. Senior goalie
Marisa D'Amico (Smithtown/Smithtown West) registered 13 saves, and senior
Sara Reardon (Little Falls) made a defensive save.
Sarah Winters scored Skidmore's goal with Sofia Marshall assisting. Goalie Maddy Carre made four saves.
Cortland took a 1-0 lead 7:29 into the game on Burchell's ninth goal of the season off a penalty corner. Winters tied the game just under four minutes later with a long blast to the right side of the goal. Glaser tallied the game winner 2:31 into the third quarter, scoring on a long shot from the right side for her fourth goal of the season. Skidmore actually pulled Carre for an extra field player over the final 2:02 but could not score the equalizer.
