OSWEGO, N.Y. – Seven Cortland wrestlers earned top-eight finishes at the New York State Collegiate Championships, hosted Sunday by SUNY Oswego.
 
Gianno Silba (Newark Valley) was the runner-up at 157 pounds with a 4-1 record. He won his first four bouts, two by pin, before losing to Kaidon Winters of RIT in the finals. Donald Wood (Center Moriches) also placed at 157 pounds with a fifth-place showing after going 2-2 with a pin.
 
Three Red Dragons finished in the top five at 149 pounds. Cahal Donovan (Marietta/Marcellus) was third with a 4-1 mark, Lucas Pincus (Valley Stream/Hewlett) finished fourth with a 3-1 record, including one pin, and Ryan Burgbacher (Medford/Patchogue-Medford) went 4-2 with a pin and two technical falls and placed fifth.
 
Ben Lloyd (Woodbridge, VA/Forest Park) and Vincent Santilli (South Glens Falls) each registered eighth-place efforts. Lloyd was 2-3 with a pin at 125 pounds and Santilli finished 4-2, with all four wins by pin, at 133 pounds.
 
The Red Dragons finished in eighth place out of 13 schools in the final team standings with 64 points. RIT won the team title with 154.5, followed by Brockport with 146.5.
 
Cortland returns to action Dec. 6-7 at the York College (Pa.) New Standard Invitational.
