CORTLAND, N.Y. – The Cortland women's gymnastics team closed its regular-season home schedule with a 187.225-185.45 dual loss to visiting Springfield College.

Following the meet, Cortland honored its three seniors – Rachel Filipski (Lancaster), Lindsay Riggs (Rancho Santa Margarita, CA/Trabuco Hills) and Lily Szafranski (Williamsville/Williamsville South).

Cortland earned first-place finishes in three events. Emily Speciale (San Antonio, TX/James Madison) won uneven bars with a 9.35 and Julie Giardina (Wantagh) was the balance beam winner with a 9.60. Filipski tied for first place on floor exercise with a 9.65 and also tied for second on vault with a 9.55.

Megan Hanley (Lynbrook/Malverne) finished second on beam (9.55) and tied for second on bars (9.30). Riggs tied her career high on floor exercise with a 9.625 to take third place, and she matched her season high on beam with a fifth-place score of 9.45.

Sidney McConnell (Winchester, CA/Vista Murrieta) placed fourth on bars with a 9.20 that matched her season best. Kamryn Rodriguez (Minisink/Minisink Valley) tied for sixth on floor with a 9.475 and was second in the all-around with a 36.075.

Springfield, coached by former Cortland All-American Jenn Najuch '10, was led by Ali Rushlow's victory on vault (9.60) and Heather Gomes' tied for first on floor (9.65). Jessica Clemens won the all-around (37.50) and tied for second on bars (9.30).

Cortland will travel to Ithaca College next Sunday, March 3, for a 1 p.m. tri-match with Brockport and the host Bombers.
