Williams Ninth on 3-Meter Board, Conway 22nd on 1-Meter Board, at NCAA Regional

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Cortland freshman Taylor Williams (Middletown/Minisink Valley) finished ninth on the women's 3-meter board and sophomore Patrick Conway (Wantagh/Kellenberg Memorial) was 22nd on the men's 1-meter board during the opening day of competition at the NCAA Division III Northeast South Diving Regional.

Williams and Conway will continue competition Saturday at RIT, with Williams on the 1-meter board and Conway in the 3-meter event. Eight women and seven men will advance to the NCAA Division III Championships, with the qualifiers chosen in alternating fashion. The top finisher on Day 1 is picked first, followed by the top finisher on Day 2, then the second finisher on Day 1, and so on, with those already chosen skipped for the next finisher on that board.

Williams posted a score of 410.35 points. She was in sixth place out of 25 competitors through nine dives after recording scores of 42 points or better on four straight attempts. A 23-point dive in the 10th round moved her to 10th, and she bounced back to ninth with a 44.40 on her final attempt.

Conway recorded a score of 342.80 points. Two of his final four dives scored more than 42 points.
