Kelly Davey (Plattsburgh) finished in 35th place nationally in the 200-yard freestyle during Day 2 of the NCAA Division III Women's Swimming and Diving Championships. The four-day event is being held at the Greensboro Aquatic Center.
Davey is not scheduled to compete on Friday. She will close her national appearance with the 100-yard freestyle on Saturday, March 23. Prelims start at 10 a.m. and the finals begin at 6 p.m.
Coming off a 12th-place finish and honorable mention All-America honors Wednesday in the 50-yard freestyle, Davey was clocked at 1:54.06 in Thursday's 200-yard freestyle preliminaries. The top 16 swimmers advanced to Thursday evening (1-8 in the finals, 9-16 in the consolation finals).
Davey opened the race with a time of 26.28 seconds over her first 50 yards – the second fastest flat start time in her life.
