CORTLAND, N.Y. – The Cortland wrestling team lost a pair of matches during the four-team Cortland Duals at Corey Gymnasium. The Red Dragons (6-4) fell to Nassau Community College, 25-14, and Averett University of Virginia, 33-20.

In the other matches during the event, Ithaca defeated Averett (37-12) and Nassau CC (35-8), and Averett finished the day with a 26-19 win over Nassau.

The Red Dragons recorded wins versus Nassau. Ryan Burgbacher (Medford/Patchogue-Medford) earned a 10-0 major decision at 149 pounds, Dylan Dubuque (East Greenbush/Columbia) won by a 19-6 major decision at 197 pounds, and Charlie Buckley (Springfield, NJ/Jonathan Dayton) won by forfeit at 165 pounds.

Dubuque was also one of four Cortland winners versus Averett with a pin in 2:16 at 197 pounds. Matt Maquet (Long Beach) posted a 3-0 decision at 133 pounds, Cahal Donovan (Marietta/Marcellus) won by a 17-1 technical fall in 4:06 at 149 pounds, and Ben Bivar (Noblesville, IN/Bainbridge-Guilford (NY)) pinned his opponent in 1:27 at 157 pounds.

Cortland will travel to Springfield College on Saturday, Feb. 1, for a quad meet that will include Springfield, Castleton, and Johnson & Wales.
