Cortland Men Lose 156-132 to Hartwick Despite Seven Individual Wins

CORTLAND, N.Y. – The Cortland men's swimming and diving team lost a dual meet to visiting Hartwick, 156-132, despite claiming seven individual event victories and one relay win.

Nick Galeto (West Islip) won both the 100-yard backstroke (54.61) and 200-yard backstroke (2:05.18). Hunter Bernhardt (Groton) won the 500-yard freestyle (4:59.36) and was second in the 1,000-yard freestyle (10:24.48), Billy Donlevy (Bayside/Holy Cross) took top honors in the 100-yard butterfly (55.02) and Tim Rokos (Duanesburg) captured the 200-yard individual medley (2:06.63).

Pat Conway (Wantagh/Kellenberg Memorial) won both diving events, posting scores of 239.40 points on the 1-meter board and 230.70 points on the 3-meter board.

Bernhardt, Jason Boyko (Poughkeepsie/Our Lady of Lourdes), Aiden Poli (Cortland/Home schooled) and Galeto won the 400-yard freestyle relay (3:25.93). The 200-yard medley relay unit of Galeto, Dylan Cornelia (Deer Park), Donlevy and Mo Diarra (New York/East Side Community) were a close second place in 1:40.46, falling by just eight hundredths of a second.

Poli finished in second place in both the 50-yard freestyle (22.59) and 100-yard freestyle (50.73). Cornelia was the runner-up in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:24.58).

Cortland will host New Paltz on Friday, Jan. 10 at 4 p.m.
