Red Dragon Men Notch 130-109 Dual Win at Oneonta

John Severs won the 1,000-yard freestyle
ONEONTA, N.Y. – The Cortland men's swimming and diving team earned a 130-109 dual-meet victory at Oneonta behind six individual wins and one relay triumph.

Hunter Bernhardt (Groton) picked up two of those wins with victories in the 200-yard freestyle (1:49.75) and 500-yard freestyle (4:54.54).

Oneonta only has a 1-meter board at its facility, so the divers were scored for both a six-dive list and a five-dive list on that board. John Severs (Suffern) won the 1,000-yard freestyle (10:41.89) and Billy Donlevy (Bayside/Holy Cross) was the 200-yard individual medley winner (2:05.55).

Aiden Poli (Cortland/Home schooled) took first place in the 100-yard freestyle (50.21) and Tim Rokos (Duanesburg) won the 100-yard backstroke (56.50). Dylan Cornelia (Deer Park) won the 100-yard breaststroke (1:02.15) and was part of Cortland's 1-2-3 sweep in the 200-yard IM. He placed second behind Donlevy in that event in 2:08.59 and Noah Farmer (New Hartford) was third in 2:09.19.

Poli, Cornelia, Donlevy and Mo Diarra (New York/East Side Community) won the 200-yard medley relay in 1:37.18.

Alex Fisher (Smithtown/Hauppauge) posted second-place finishes in the 100-yard butterfly (57.47) and 100-yard breaststroke (1:03.24). Diarra placed second in the 50-yard freestyle (23.92) and Jason Boyko (Poughkeepsie/Our Lady of Lourdes) was second in the 500-yard freestyle (5:10.41).

Donlevy, Diarra, Poli and Severs finished second in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:32.64) as an exhibition entry in the meet's final event.

Pat Conway (Wantagh/Kellenberg Memorial) finished second in the five-dive portion of the 1-meter diving competition with a score of 174.60 points and was third in the six-dive section in 238.30 points for an 11-dive score of 412.90 points.
