ALLENTOWN, PA. – Freshman Trentyn Rupert (Newark Valley) captured first place at 285 pounds at the Muhlenberg Northeast/Mideast Futures Tournament on Sunday to highlight Cortland's performances.

Rupert finished with a 4-0 record to improve to 5-1 on the season. He opened with a 3-0 decision over Muhlenberg's Ramiro Osuna, and followed with a pin of MiAndre Hughes of RIT to reach the semifinals where he faced junior teammate Zach Herbert and recorded a 4-1 decision. Rupert earned the title with a pin of Hunter's Jacob Raboy in 4:35 in the championship match.
 
Freshman Ryan Burgbacher (Medford/Patchogue-Medford) improved to 21-14 on the season with a runner-up finish at 149 pounds. Burgbacher earned an 11-3 major decision over Thomas Dinger of The College of New Jersey to start the day. He then posted a 12-0 major decision against McDaniel's Skyler Minutelli and a 12-3 major decision over Joe Schneider of Stevens in the semifinals before falling in the championship match to Joe Salerno of Washington & Lee.

Sophomore Odean Gray (Brooklyn/Grand Street Campus) posted a 2-1 record at 197 pounds. Gray began the day with a pin of Gardner Kem of Ursinus in 1:28 and followed with a pin of Penn College's Jalen Edwards in 6:28. He lost to eventual champion Michael Reinhart of York by fall in the semifinals and medically forfeited his next match.

Herbert finished the day with a 2-2 record at 285 pounds. He opened with an 11-2 major decision against Sam Rothstein of Muhlenberg). After a 5-1 decision over York's Nathan Forschner, he dropped the 4-1 decision to Rupert in the semifinals and lost a 14-8 decision to Osuna in the consolations.

Cortland will compete at the NCAA Division III Mideast Regionals next Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 29-Mar. 1, at Ithaca.
