The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has recognized 250 SUNY Cortland student-athletes for a total of 253 awards on its 2019-20 Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll.
Athletes earn a spot on the list by recording at least a 3.3 cumulative grade point average. The 2019-20 school year is the fourth for the honor roll. Cortland's 253 awards are easiest its highest total thus far - the Red Dragons earned 210 honors in 2018-19, 174 in 2017-18 and 166 in 2016-17.
The 253 Cortland selections include: 33 women's track and field/cross country athletes; 19 women's lacrosse players and 19 football players; 18 men's track and field/cross country athletes; 17 women's swimming and diving athletes; 15 baseball players; 13 men's ice hockey and 13 women's ice hockey players; 12 women's volleyball, 12 field hockey and 12 softball players; 11 women's soccer players; 10 women's basketball players, 10 women's gymnasts and 10 men's lacrosse players; seven men's soccer players; five men's basketball players, five men's swimming and diving athletes, and five wrestlers; four women's tennis players; and three women's golfers. Three student-athletes earned awards in multiple sports. All sports are honored, even if they are not sports sponsored by the SUNYAC.
