CORTLAND, N.Y. - Cortland used a 13-0 run in the second quarter to take an 18-point lead and the Red Dragons led by double figures the rest of the way in a 53-39 non-league win over visiting Hamilton College.

Corinne Miedreich (Pearl River) led Cortland (3-2) with 13 points and added seven rebounds.
Maggie Malone (Cornwall) scored 10 points and
Casey Travers (Manorville/Eastport-South Manor) tallied eight points, with all 18 of those combined points coming in the first half. Travers also registered six rebounds, three steals and two blocks.

Sarah Tully (East Aurora) led Cortland with nine rebounds.
Logan Streety (Elma/Iroquois) finished with eight rebounds, four points, two assists and two blocks in 19 minutes off the bench, while
Nyia Longford (Medford/Longwood) had eight rebounds, two assists, two blocks and two steals, also in 19 minutes of action after sitting most of the first half due to foul trouble.
Julia Siler (Seaford) and
Fiona Mullen (Orangeburg/Tappan Zee) each scored five points, while Siler led the team with three assists.

Kelcie Zarle led Hamilton (2-3) with 15 points, although the Red Dragons held her to about half of her 29-points-per-game season average. Claire Sehring scored 10 points and Emma Sehring totaled five points and seven rebounds.

Cortland led 18-9 after one quarter. Hamilton was within five at 22-17 on a Zarle jumper with 7:21 left in the second before the Red Dragons went on their decisive streak. Travers hit a 3-pointer and Miedreich made a jumper, followed by a Siler 3-point play, a Malone 3-pointer, and a Streety layup to give Cortland a 35-17 lead with 3:23 left in the half.

The hosts held a 37-22 halftime lead, and both teams struggled offensively in the second half. Cortland shot 46 percent in the first half, but only 23 percent in the second 20 minutes, while Hamilton hit 28 percent of its first-half shots and only 17 percent of its attempts in the second half. The Continentals missed all 12 of their 3-point attempts, while Cortland made six of its 24 shots from the arc.

Cortland begins SUNYAC play next Tuesday, Nov. 30, with a 5:30 p.m. game at Oswego.
