Cortland freshman forward
Keirra Ettere (Mahopac/Lakeland) has been chosen as both the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Field Hockey Offensive Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year for the 2021 season.
In addition, Ettere is one of five Red Dragons named to the all-league team. She is joined on the first team by freshman forward/midfielder
Hanna Corrigan (Barneveld/Holland Patent), junior forward
Lily Fox (Northport) and senior goalie
Megan McGuinness (Carle Place), while sophomore midfielder
Madison Rice (Greene) earned a spot on the All-SUNYAC second team.Â

Ettere currently has recorded 25 goals, including seven game winners, and eight assists for 58 points in 17 games. She ranks second nationally in Division III with 1.47 goals per game and third with 3.41 points per contest. Ettere has set Cortland school single-season records for goals and points by a freshman. Her 25 goals are currently the third-best total in a season in school history, and her 58 points are tied for fourth at Cortland. She registered at least one goal or one assist in each of the first 16 games in which she played this season.Â

Corrigan has started all 18 games and has 11 goals and eight assists for 30 points. She's tied for second on the team in assists and is third in goals and points. Corrigan scored both goals in a 2-1 victory at Ithaca and had two goals and three assists in a 7-1 victory at Brockport.Â

Fox leads Cortland with 11 assists and is second on the team with 12 goals and 35 total points in 18 starts. She tallied two goals and an assist each in wins over Hartwick and Oswego and scored twice in a win versus Oneonta. Fox was a second team All-SUNYAC honoree in 2019.

McGuinness has started all 18 games in goal and has a 1.23 goals-against average, an .802 save percentage and four shutouts. She made 11 saves in a regular-season win over Geneseo and 10 saves in a regular-season loss at New Paltz.Â

Rice, also a started in all 18 games, has totaled seven goals and one assists for 15 points. She's tied for fourth on the team in goals and ranks fifth in points. Rice tallied two goals each in wins over Russell Sage and Morrisville State.Â

Cortland (16-2) was the SUNYAC regular-season and tournament runner-up and earned an at-large berth into the NCAA Division III tournament. The Red Dragons will host Ohio Wesleyan University in an NCAA first-round game Wednesday at 2 p.m.
