Danielle Bambola Wins Red Dragon Shootout Title; Cortland Second as Team

CORTLAND, N.Y. – Graduate student Danielle Bambola (Miller Place) earned medalist honors and Cortland finished second in the team scoring at the season-opening Red Dragon Spring Shootout at the Cortland Country Club.
 
Bambola, a Division III All-American in 2019-20, posted a four-over-par 76 to claim the individual title by two strokes over Ithaca's Sophia Israel. Amanda Gaffney (Williamsville/Williamsville East) placed third with an 80, followed by Ithaca teammates Peyton Greco (81) and Cristea Park (82) in the top five.
 
Rounding out Cortland's contingent were freshmen Rachel Curatolo (Poughkeepsie/Spackenkill) and Kira Graves (Manlius/Fayetteville-Manius), who finished 11th (113) and 13th (119), respectively, in the one-day event.
 
Ithaca won the team title with a score of 329, followed by Cortland (388) and St. John Fisher (422). Canton also competed but did not officially record a team score.
 
Cortland will compete at the William Smith Invitational on Sunday in Clifton Springs, N.Y.
