CLIFTON SPRINGS, N.Y. – Danielle Bambola (Miller Place) claimed the individual title at the William Smith Invitational for the fourth straight season with a score of 79 at the single-day event, which was held in rainy conditions at the Clifton Springs Country Club. 
 
Bambola finished seven strokes ahead of Union's Colleen Buckley in the 26-golfer field. Bambola won the tournament title in the fall of 2019 in a playoff, was the individual champ in 2018, and shared medalist honors there in the fall of 2017 with no playoff conducted that year. 
 
Cortland finished second out of five teams in the team scoring. Union finished first with a 353, followed by Cortland at 383, William Smith with a 393, Nazareth at 400, and St. John Fisher at 433.  
 
Amanda Gaffney (Williamsville/Williamsville East) tied for fourth place with an 88. Rachel Curatolo (Poughkeepsie/Spackenkill) tied for 17th with a 103 and Kira Graves (Manlius/Fayetteville-Manlius) placed 23rd with a 113. 
 
Bambola struggled early with a double bogey and bogey on the first two holes, but bounced back with a birdie and par. She failed to par the next four holes, but was solid the rest of the way as she closed the day with 10 straight pars. Gaffney registered six pars on the day, five on the back nine. 
 
Cortland will compete at the Central New York Spring Invitational next Saturday at the Pompey Club in Jamesville, N.Y., and will face Le Moyne in a dual the next day, also at the Pompey Club.
