JAMESVILLE, N.Y. –
Danielle Bambola (Miller Place) carded a two-over par 74 to finish in first place by six strokes at the CNY Spring Invitational, held Saturday at The Pompey Club. Bambola has been the medalist in each of Cortland's first three tournaments this spring.
Amanda Gaffney (Williamsville/Williamsville East) placed seventh with an 86, while
Rachel Curatolo (Poughkeepsie/Spackenkill) was 14th (108) and
Kira Graves (Manlius/Fayetteville-Manlius) finished 15th (109).
Ithaca won the team title with a 327, followed by Division II Le Moyne at 355 and Cortland at 377.
Bambola double bogeyed the first hole, but played even par golf the rest of the way. She registered three birdies – two on the front nine on the par 5 fifth and seventh holes, and one on the back on the par 4 15th.
Gaffney scored a 44 on the front nine and a 42 on the back. She was tied for second in the field, with Bambola, for the best scoring average on par 3 holes (3.40), and she was tied for third in the tournament with eight pars. Graves' round included a birdie three on the par-4 10th along with four pars.
Cortland will face Le Moyne and another Division II school, St. Rose, on Sunday in a tri-match at The Pompey Club.
