BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The Cortland men's lacrosse team built an 11-0 halftime lead and went on to a 16-4 victory at The College of Brockport Friday afternoon in SUNYAC West action. The Red Dragons improved to 7-3 overall with their fifth straight win and 4-1 in the conference to secure a divisional playoff berth with one regular-season game remaining. The Golden Eagles dropped to 2-4 overall and 2-3 in the league.
Freshman
Colton Smith (Naples/Penn Yan Academy) led Cortland's offense with a career-best six points, matching his career high with four goals and adding two assists. Junior
Dante Yacavone (Homer) tallied five points on three goals and two assists, junior
Pat Doyen (Miller Place) recorded two goals and three assists and senior
Zak Jones (East Quogue/Westhampton Beach) netted two goals.

Colin McCarthy (Mount Sinai) each chipped in with one goal and one assist, while senior

Marc Esposito (West Babylon) registered 13 saves and secured two ground balls. Senior
Brian Williams (Holtsville/Sachem East) won 11 faceoffs and scooped up six ground balls. Senior
Jacob Rivers (Homer) collected three ground balls and caused two turnovers, and Doyen and junior
Dominick Natale (Homer) each had three ground balls.
Ethan Stiles won 12-of-24 faceoffs, collected seven ground balls and scored a goal for Brockport. Joe Kealy, Owen VanWie and Rocco Santillo each netted a goal, and Peter Scavone added an assist.
Goalie John Felice made 12 saves. Aidan Fitzgerald recorded three ground balls and two caused turnovers, and Blake Palozzi secured four ground balls.
