Danielle Bambola Repeat Selection as WGCA Second Team All-American

For the second straight year, SUNY Cortland graduate student Danielle Bambola (Miller Place) has been chosen to the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) Division III All-America second team. She also is a repeat honoree on the WGCA Division III All-East Region first team.

The All-America team consists of eight players on both the first and second teams and six honorable mention choices.

Bambola capped off a highly successful spring season by finishing in 17th place out of 131 golfers at the NCAA Division III Women's Golf Championships last week in East Lansing, Mich. She recorded a four-day score of 315, including a 77 on the first day and a 78 in her final round.

Prior to nationals, Bambola finished in first place in all six of Cortland's events. She won the individual crown at the Northeast Women's Golf Conference Championship in late April, helping Cortland repeat as the team champion, and the following week she tied her own single-round school record with a 71 in a dual match win over Suffolk University. She also won titles at the Cortland Red Dragon Spring Shootout, the William Smith Invitational, the Central New York Spring Invitational, and the Le Moyne Spring Invitational.

Bambola finished with a season average of 76.4 over 10 rounds. The Red Dragons did not compete in the fall of 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In the fall of 2019, Bambola posted a 75.0 average over 10 rounds, but the spring portion of the season was canceled.
